We are developing a fleet of 6 autonomous ROS-based medium-scale RC cars with an accompanying infrastructure and a short course in autonomous vehicles. Such educational platforms are still scarcely available, especially when one requires hardware and software support for precise control of wheel velocity and steering angle rate. This support is provided by our platform and it will be utilized to explore the intricacies of mobile robot control and practical control issues occuring during autonomous vehicle development. To gain a first-hand experience with those issues, course participants will also partially develop and verify motion planning, mapping and localization modules. Therefore, a small complete autonomous car will be developed by each pair of students.
